Abstract:

To suppress lift of a water film by including a contact angle increasing agent for increasing a contact angle between a drum inner peripheral face and water in condensed water within a drum, increasing a contact area between the drum inner peripheral face and steam, and thus, improving heat transfer efficiency of a steam dryer.

In this method of improving heat transfer efficiency of the steam dryer, the contact angle increasing agent for increasing the contact angle between the drum inner peripheral face and water is included in water present within the drum of the steam dryer. Long-chain aliphatic series are suitable for the contact angle increasing agent. When steam is supplied from boilers 5 to the drum 11 to dry wet paper, long-chain aliphatic amine is emulsified by fat acid alkali metal salt, and is added to boiler supply water by piping 3 or added to steam generated by a steam header 7.
