Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent deterioration in freshness of fishes catchable in large quantities, by charging caught live fishes into cooled seawater or cooled brine containing an inert fluid dissolved therein and instantly killing the fishes.

CONSTITUTION: For example, seawater is filled in a fish hold and an inert fluid, such as gaseous carbon dioxide gas or nitrogen gas, is blown from a gas cylinder through a communicating pipe and dissolved from a blowing pipe in the seawater in the fish hold. Captured small-sized fishes, such as sardine, catchable in a large quantities in a live state are charged into the cold seawater in this state of oxygen deficiency and instantly killed in the same manner as squeezing.
