Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lightning protection for electric equipment wherein a Faraday cage in a structure housing the electric equipment is stabilized.
SOLUTION: The electric equipment is provided with a lightning protection apparatus. The lightning protection apparatus includes a lightning protection annular ground wire 11 buried around the structure 1 housing the electric equipment 4 so that the structure 1 is encircled with the ground wire, and is so designed that the lightning protection annular ground wire 11 is connected with a lightning conductor 2 at the lightning stroke point on the top of the structure 1 by electric wires 12, such as insulated wires, and lightning current going underground and flowing into the structure 1 is captured by the lightning protection annular ground wire 11 and let to flow to the lightning conductor 2. The earth terminal of the input-side earth lightning arrester of a lightning-resistant transformer 3 placed in the input power line 5 to the electric equipment 4 is connected with a grounding pole 9 outside the lightning protection annular ground wire 11 by an electric wire 8, and lightning current flowing into the input power line 5 is let to flow into the ground outside the lightning protection annular ground wire 11 through the earth lightning arrestor 6 to stabilize a Faraday cage in the structure 1.
