Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing high purity boron nitride in a high yield, especially an improved method where a calcining process and a sintering process are integrated into a single firing process and a washing/exudation of a reaction product to obtain the high purity boron nitride is an optional process.

The method is for manufacturing a hexagonal boron nitride compound, which contains a process of forming a hexagonal boron nitride compound by reacting an oxygen-containing boron compound and a nitrogen-containing source in the presence of one or more kinds of compounds used as a dopant at a treating temperature of ≥1,000°C for ≥1 hour. The dopant is a metal compound which forms a metal borate having a vaporization temperature lower than the treating temperature.
