To provide a method for operating a weft pullback device capable of smoothly operating a weft even on a non-continuous operation without causing a defective weaving and a picking failure, in a fluid jet loom.
This method for operating the weft pullback device in the fluid jet loom comprising a weft-storing device for storing the weft pulled out from a yarn-feeding package, and the weft pullback device which is disposed between the weft-storing device and a picking nozzle, bends the weft, and pulls back the weft end cut off from the weft picked into a warp opening and then projected from the tip of the picking nozzle, is characterized by cutting the weft between the picking nozzle and the warp opening, bending the weft with the weft pullback device to pull back the weft end, and then canceling the weft-bending operation of the weft pullback device for bending the weft, on the basis of the command signal of the weft operation, in a period when the weft operations for releasing the weft connected to the picking nozzle from the weft-storing device and simultaneously pulling out from the picking nozzle, except the time for the continuous operation for the picking.
