To provide a method and an apparatus for oxidizing a substance by irradiating the substance with an ultraviolet light having a specified wavelength at the state of contacting the substance with a nitrous oxide (N2O) solution and to provide the substance obtained by the method and the apparatus.
The method for oxidizing the substance that the substance X is oxidized by irradiating a solution S with (1) an ultraviolet light emitted from a krypton-iodine excimer lamp L, (2) an ultraviolet light whose wavelength exists in almost the same range as the wavelength where the absorbance of the solution S containing nitrous oxide is highest or (3) an ultraviolet light whose wavelength exists in almost the same range as the wavelength where the absorbance in a range where the absorbance of an oxygen molecule varies periodically becomes minimum is provided.
