Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical process for industrial-scale production of poly-(diaminodiphenylmethane) (DADPM).SOLUTION: In a reaction in which an aromatic amine is reacted with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst to obtain a mixture of a diamine and polyamines, when a DADPM process with a very small used amount of an acid is handled in an operation of separating a neutralized reaction mixture into an organic phase containing the diamine and polyamines and a water phase, the concentration of an aqueous phase is adjusted by one of the following methods (a) to (c): (a) the concentration of the aqueous phase is increased by removing some water from the neutralized reaction mixture; (b) the concentration of the aqueous phase is increased by adding an appropriate amount of solid sodium chloride or a high-concentration aqueous solution of sodium chloride; and (c) the concentration of the aqueous phase is increased by returning a brine flow of a higher concentration formed with a weak brine flow from the process.
