Abstract:

To provide a novel method for producing a lithium metal phosphate which is good in reproducibility, simple in production process, and excellent in mass-productivity at a low cost.

The production method for a lithium metal phosphate represented by the following chemical formula 1 uses, as a starting raw material, a mixture of a metal (M) and a metal oxide containing the same metal: [formula 1] LixMyPO4, wherein M is a transition metal selected from group 3 to 12 elements, Mg, Al, Ga and B, 0.05≤x≤1.2, and 0.8≤y≤1.2. A lithium transition metal phosphate produced by the method, an electrode containing the lithium transition metal phosphate as an electrode active material, and a secondary battery including the electrode are also provided. The method uses a substance obtained by mixing a metal oxide being an inexpensive metal precursor and a metal in a reduced state, as a starting raw material for a solid phase reaction, so as to obtain a nano-crystalline lithium metal phosphate in a low production unit cost. When the lithium metal phosphate is used as an electrode active material for a secondary battery, it is possible to provide the secondary battery with excellent capacity characteristics and life characteristics.
