To provide a method for producing a paper substrate for optical disks which is produced mainly from a paper base material excellent in terms of scrapping easiness and an environmental load, controls the occurrence of warpage, and is excellent in surface smoothness.
The method for producing the paper substrate includes a process for applying an adhesive on the paper base material or a plastic film base material, a process for laminating the paper base material and the plastic film base material together, and a process for smoothing the surface of the laminate comprising the paper base material and the plastic film base material. In the smoothing process, the laminate is smoothed continuously by a double band press equipped with metallic endless press bands.
