Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a proton-conductive membrane, by which the proton-conductive membrane having excellent proton conductivity and methanol crossover-preventing property can be produced, and the productivity of the proton-conductive membrane can largely be improved, to provide a proton-conductive membrane, and to provide a fuel battery.

This method for producing the proton-conductive membrane having sulfonic groups and a crosslinked structure comprising metal-oxygen bonds comprises a process for preparing a liquid containing a crosslinking compound comprising a structure unit (a) having a metal-oxygen bond and a structure unit (b) having a mercapto group and/or a sulfide group bound to the structure unit having the metal-oxygen bond through a covalent bond, a process for producing a membrane containing the crosslinking compound, and a process for subjecting the membrane to a UV ray irradiation or a plasma treatment in a water vapor atmosphere to convert the mercapto groups and/or the sulfide groups into sulfonic groups and simultaneously cure the membrane.
