Title:
METHOD OF REDUCING ADJUSTABLY EFFECTIVE PORE SIZE IN MICROPOROUS POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE ARTICLES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05269904
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a PTFE having substantially a high strength and a designated shape interconnected by fibrils each other by encapsulating the nodes and fibrils with a metal plate of a desired thickness and reducing a flow field in an effective microporous sectional area.

CONSTITUTION: Microporous metal-plated articles 20 manufactured consist of a microporous polytetrafluoroethylene film 22 and a continuous interporous metal coating which is a microstructure of nodes interconnected by fibrils and substantially at least encapsulates some of nodes and fibrils. Therefore, at least one surface of the porous articles is metal-plated and the inner part of the porous articles under said surface is metal-plated. Accordingly, the microporous PTFE article having a designated strength can be manufactured.
