Abstract:

To maintain shieldability by shielding gas always in a good state even if a cleaning width is changed by regulating a set signal Rens of an electrode minus polarity ratio i.e., the ratio at which an electrode minus current occupies in the mean value of a welding current Iw formed of an electrode minus current during an electrode minus polarity period and an electrode plus current during an electrode plus polarity period in non-consumable electrode AC arc welding or consumable electrode AC arc welding of an aluminum material to be supplied with the the welding current Iw.

In the method for regulating gas flow rate of the AC arc welding, the flow rate F [L/min] of the shielding gas is automatically regulated depending on a predetermined function corresponding to the set signal Rens of the electrode minus polarity ratio, wherein the function is expressed by F=f (Rens) and is previously so defined that the flow rate F of the gas decreases with an increase in the set signal Rens of the electrode minus polarity ratio.
