To provide a method for the separation of cells or viruses taking advantage of phase separation and provide a kit for the separation method for cells and viruses.
The method for the separation of cells or viruses contains a step to suspend a specimen containing cells or viruses in a cosmotropic salt solution having pH of 3-6, a step to add a cationic polymer to the suspension obtained by the former step to agglomerate the cells or viruses, a step to deposit the composite material composed of the cells or viruses and the cationic polymer obtained by the above agglomeration step to a solid substrate by the phase separation of the cationic polymer, and a step to separate the solid substrate carrying the cells and viruses and obtained by the deposition step from the suspension liquid. The invention further provides a cell or virus separation kit for the separation method.
