Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for easily and surely detoxifying solid organic matter containing a persistent toxic substance.
SOLUTION: This system 100 for treating solid organic matter containing the persistent toxic substance is composed of a slurrying apparatus (a pulverizing mill) 130 for pulverizing natural organic matter 1 and mixing the pulverized matter 1 with water 2 to obtain slurry 3, a cutting apparatus (a shredder) 120 for facilitating slurrying of the matter 1 and a hydrothermally decomposing apparatus 140 for decomposing PCB in the slurry 3 together with the matter 1. Various physical properties of the slurry 3 such as viscosity, particle size and standing stability are adjusted in the apparatus 130 so that such a failure as the clogging of the slurry 3 is not generated in the apparatus 140.
