PURPOSE: To provide a device and method for allowing the user of a mutually connected computer system to identify the specific part of data, and to perform access from the other computer in a network to this data part.

CONSTITUTION: A user who tries to transfer a file to the other system just presses a non-contact type stylus 40 to the display of a file such as a file name and icons 60 and 70, and selects the file to be transferred. Next, the user carries the stylus 40 to the place of the mutually connected remote computer, pressurizes the stylus 40 in the remote computer in which the identification code of the stylus 40 is collated, and captures a path to the selected file. Then, this data file is transferred from the computer of the user through a network to the remote computer.
