Abstract:
To provide an alkylene oxide treatment method which can efficiently treat unreacted alkylene oxide remaining in producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with an alkylene oxide.
First, a gas containing at least an alkylene oxide is allowed to be absorbed in an absorbent solution containing an alkylene glycol, next, the alkylene oxide absorbed in the absorbent solution is hydrated in the presence of a catalyst to form an alkylene glycol, and then the hydrate solution containing the alkylene glycol is recovered. When the alkylene oxide-containing solution is treated, the alkylene oxide in the alkylene oxide-containing solution is first vaporized.
