To selectively heat a lower layer portion of an agglomerate charged into a drying furnace using a microwave.
A microwave dryer is provided at a hot-air type drying furnace that makes hot air blast an object to be dried when the object to be dried is transported by a conveyer to thereby reduce moisture contained in the object to be dried, and has a microwave oscillator that oscillates a microwave used for drying the object to be dried, and a plurality of waveguides that are inserted in a layer of the object to be dried to a depth so that a heating range that can be heated by the microwave includes the lowermost layer of the layer of the object to be dried, and at least two of the plurality of waveguides are arranged at positions different from each other in a width direction of the drying furnace and positions of the waveguides adjacent to each other in the width direction of the drying furnace are different from each other in a transportation direction.
