Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave dryer and a microwave drying method capable of selectively, efficiently heating the lower layer region of a dry target article, which is loaded into a dry furnace using a microwave.SOLUTION: A microwave dryer according to the present invention, which is used for drying a dry target article at a time of transporting the dry target article by a conveyor, comprises: a microwave generator generating a microwave; and a waveguide inserted into a dry target article layer formed by the dry target article and guiding the microwave generated by the microwave generator, the waveguide including a metallic plate provided on a tip end of the waveguide and closing the tip end of the waveguide, and an opening provided in a side surface of the waveguide, the opening having a position at a maximal magnetic field intensity in the waveguide in a direction of a central axis of the waveguide and not having a position having a minimal magnetic field intensity in the waveguide.
