To obtain a new oligo- or polynucleotide which is chemically modified or labeled in such a manner that it is easily detected when it is bound to or taken into a nucleic acid substance, and as a result, which is useful for diagnosing carcinoma or the like, by containing a nucleotide having a specific structure.
The subject nucleotide contains a nucleotide of the formula (P is a phosphoric acid residue; S is a deoxyribose residue; B is pyrimidine, purine or the like; when said nucleotide is a ribonucleotide, P binds to a position selected from 2'-, 3'- and 5'-positions of S, when it is a deoxyribonucleotide, P binds to a position selected from 3'and 5'-positions of S, and when B is a pyrimidine, the N1 position binds to the 1-position of S, and when B is purine, the N9 position binds to the 1'-position of S; Sig is a detectable residue which is bound to S directly or via a bonding group). The nucleotide of the formula is obtained by adding a nucleic acid to an allyl amine substituent with a covalent bond, and subsequently binding a heavy metal or the like.
