Title:
MOLTEN METAL ELECTROMAGNETIC PUMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63157662
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To resume the smooth supply of molten metal at the time when the operation of an electromagnetic pump is restarted, etc., by stably keeping the molten metal in continuous condition in the duct during the time the operation of the pump is at a stop.

CONSTITUTION: A core 13 containing magnetic substance is arranged in a duct 12 connected to a molten metal vessel 11, outside which a stator 14 is provided that generates shifting magnetic field. To the position lower than the height of a molten metal column caused by atmospheric pressure from a molten metal inlet 17 of this duct 12, a valve seat 16 is formed, where the core 13 is provided with unrestricted sliding in the longitudinal direction of the duct 12, while a valve disc 15 to block the duct 12 is formed to the core 13. In this way, in stopping an electromagnetic pump by shifting the core 13 downwards to block the valve seat 16 with the valve disc 15 and in generating weak shifting magnetic field with the stator 14 provided around the intermediate section of the duct 12, the existing condition can stably be maintained. In resuming the operation, when the valve seat 16 is opened, the molten metal in the duct 12 exists in continuous condition, so that the supply of it is ready to restart at once.
