To obtain a motor control device which moves a moving object very precisely to a target stopping position in a short period of time without troublesome processing, and also obtain a method therefor.
A motor 14 is controlled in two steps by the following two control systems: a first control system which controls the rotation of the motor 14 so that a recording medium 22 may move, at a prescribed speed and with prescribed precision, to a halfway position on the way to the target stopping position of the recording medium 22 as a moving object; and a second control system which controls the rotation of the motor 14 so that the recording medium 22 may move from the halfway position to the target stopping position at a speed lower than the prescribed speed and with higher precision than the prescribed precision.
