Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, low-cost, power-saving motor drive apparatus capable of predicting the life of a friction brake device.SOLUTION: A motor drive apparatus 1 with a brake device comprises: a motor current detection unit 11 for detecting a motor current flowing through the motor; a brake release determination unit 12 which determines that the brake is not released when the motor current detected during motor operation under a predetermined load with a voltage applied to the brake coil at reception of a brake release command is larger than the current at normal brake release; and which determines that the brake is released when the detected brake current is smaller than or equal to the current at normal brake release; a brake coil voltage change unit 13 which, when the brake is determined not to be released, changes the voltage applied to the brake coil to a larger value; a change history storage unit 14 for storing the voltage after change and the date and time of change; and a life prediction unit 15 for calculating a predicted life of the brake apparatus, based on the voltage after change, the date and time of change, and the prestored brake coil voltage at failure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
