To provide a motor drive circuit that obviates the necessity for additional components unlike conventional ones and yet has a function of detecting any failure in a rush current suppression circuit during motor driving.
The motor drive circuit includes a converter part 860, a smoothing circuit 870, an inverter part 880, and a rush current suppression circuit 930 including a first resistor 931 connected to a ground line (PG), a second resistor 912 connected to the ground line (PG), a first current measurement circuit 150 that measures a voltage between the ends 914-915 of the first resistor 931 and the second resistor 912 and outputs the measurement value, a second current measurement circuit 920 that measures a current passed through a motor 890, and a control circuit 810 that determines a failure in the rush current suppression circuit 930 based on comparison of a voltage value output by the first current measurement circuit 150 with a voltage value of a first failure detection circuit estimated from a voltage value output by the second current measurement circuit 920.
