Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions capable of administration to a host without an adjuvant for stimulation of the immunogenic response system and suitable for oral delivery, and a method for inducing immunogenic response to the host using the compositions.SOLUTION: The invention provides a modified hepatitis E virus-like (HEV) capsid protein, and a peptide/nucleic acid composition for oral/mucosal, dual-modal activation of the immune protection systems, which composition comprises a heterologous nucleic acid encapsulated in a chimeric virus-like particle (VLP) formed of the modified HEV capsid protein. The composition comprises a modified HEV capsid protein further comprising residues 91-123 or residues 70-123 of HEV ORF3 protein fused to the N-terminus of residues 112-608 of HEV ORF2 protein.SELECTED DRAWING: None
