To improve the operation rate of a multiple-color fluid jet loom by suppressing the frequency of the stop of the loom which is caused by the detection signal of yarn supply abnormality.
The multiple-color weft inserting device of a fluid jet loom includes at least three weft supply lines each having a weft feeding package, a weft length measurement storage device, a weft insertion nozzle and a yarn feed sensor, and is provided with a weft-insertion controlling device. The weft-insertion controlling device performs grouping of a plurality of weft supply lines of a number smaller than the number of total weft supply lines to actually hold the weft as a group to hold the same kind of weft, performs multiple-color weft insertion in accordance with a predetermined weft-insertion pattern using the grouped weft supply lines and other weft supply lines, and performs the insertion of weft of the kind corresponding to the group while successively changing the weft supply lines operating in the group. When the weft supply sensor detects the weft supply abnormality in either one of the weft supply lines in the group, the line is excluded and the weft insertion is continued only by using the other lines in the group.
