Title:
FENDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0718643
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To miniaturize a fender by forming a hollow impact support section made of rubber or the like into a divergent shape from an impact reception section to a fitting section side, forming a dog-legged crease at a specific position, increasing the initial reaction force, and increasing the absorbed energy.

CONSTITUTION: When an impact support section 2 is initially deformed in the initial stage of coming alongside a quay, the resistance force against the outward swelling of the impact support section 2 is generated by a divergent dog-legged crease 4 and an expanded diameter section 5 provided on the outside of the impact support section 2, and reaction force is increased. When the deformation of the impact support section 2 further progresses, swelling occurs, and the maximum deformation point is attained through the constant reaction force area. The angle θ of the crease 4 is preferably set to about 160° or above. When the angle θ is 160° or below, the impact support section 2 is not swollen outward, and the excessive reaction force having no constant reaction force area is generated. The position of the crease 4 is set to the range of 0.3-0.6 from a fitting section 3 against the total height so as to generate the resistance force against the outward swelling of the impact support section 2. The energy absorbing capability in the initial stage of coming alongside a quay can be increased, and this fender can be miniaturized.
