PURPOSE: To obtain a material an absorption in a near-infrared region of 650-800nm and excellent in solvent solubility and lightfastness by reacting a 2,4,5,6-tetrafluorophthalonitrile compound with a fluorophthalonitrile compound and a metal compound.
CONSTITUTION: 3,4,5,6-Tetrafluorophthalonitrile is reacted with 0.25mol, per mol of the phthalonitrile, at least one compound selected from among fluorophthalonitriles of formula I and a metal oxide, a metal halide or an organic acid metal salt of formula II to obtain the purpose compound of formula III. IN the formulas, X is a group of formula IV (wherein A is 1-8C alkyl; Z is H, etc.; and p is 0-2), etc.; Me is a metal; Y is oxygen, halogen or an organic acid group; t is 1-3; X has a value determined by the atomic valence of Me or Y; X1, X2, X3 and X4 are each a group of formula IV, etc., and is at the position β of the corresponding benzene ring; a, b, c and d are each 0-2; and the sum total of a, b, c and d is 1-3; F is fluorine; and M is a metal, a metal oxide, a metal hydroxide or a metal halide.
