Abstract:
To provide a new genetic group involving formation of a nervous system (central nervous system or peripheral nervous system) and a protein for which each gene thereof codes and to provide a method for utilizing these genes and the protein.
The new genetic group is isolated from Ciona intestinalis and expresses in the nervous system of cercembryo or larva of sea squirt. The new genetic group derived from the sea squirt is useful for elucidation of generation mechanism of the nervous system and useful for investigation of the cause of various kinds of genetic diseases caused by abnormality in a generation stage and improvement of a method for diagnosing or treating these diseases.
