PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer outstanding in dyeability while retaining processability, resistance to low-temperature brittleness, flexibility, etc., by copolymerization, under specified conditions, between ethylene, dialkylaminoalkyl acrylamide-based comonomer, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective novel copolymer with number-average molecular weight 5,000W50,000 can be obtained by copolymerization, in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator under a pressure 500W3,000kg/cm2 at 100W300°C of a mixture comprising (A) 40W99wt.% of ethylene, (B) 60W1wt.% of at least one kind of dialkylaminoalkyl acrylamide-based comonomer of formula (R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are each 1W4C alkyl, n is 2W5) (e.g., dimethylaminopropyl acrylamide) and (C) 0W20wt.% of at least one kind of other ethylenic unsaturated comonomer (e.g., methyl acrylate). This copolymer is especially useful as a raw material for additives for imparting poly-α-olefins with dyeability and for electrically conductive coatings outstanding in film- formability and electrical conductivity.
