Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition useful for inhibiting an obstruction of airway or an excessive secretion of mucus, containing a specific pyranoquinoline derivative. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains 9-ethyl-6,9-dihydro-4,6-dioxo-10propyl-4 H-pyrano(3,2-g)quinoline-2,8-dicarboxylic acid as an active component. An administration dose is 0.001-50mg per 1kg of body weight or 0.01-1,000mg, especially 1-60mg per 1 day for a person. The compound of formula I is produced by selectively hydrolyzing or oxidizing a compound of formula II (D and D) are each a group capable of being hydrolyzed or oxidized to COOH, or either is the above group and the other is COOH), or cyclizing a compound of formula III or IV.
