The occupant protecting device comprises an energy absorber 40 for absorbing the collision energy of the occupant H, whereby the collision energy of the occupant H is absorbed during the front-side collision of the vehicle. Receiving parts including a steering wheel 11 and a steering column 12 connected to the energy absorber 40 for receiving the collision energy of the occupant H are supported to be movable to the cross direction of the vehicle by a supporting mechanism 30, so that the receiving parts can be moved in the same direction as the occupant H is moved in the cross direction of the vehicle during the front-side collision of the vehicle.
