Title:
OIL AND WATER SEPARATION PROCESS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0947657
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To dispense an water content from an oil content rationally and economically by irradiating a surfactant in oil-containg drainage containing emulsion with light and decomposing it in the presence of a photocatalyst and then carrying out the film separation.

Oil-containing drainage containing emulsion is stored in a stainless reaction tank 2 and is applied to a high pressure mercury vapor lamp 1 in the presence of a photocatalyst such as titanium oxide to decompose a surfactant. Then, titanium oxide is separated by an electret filter 4, and then the drainage is separated into an oil content and a water content by a membrane separating device with a hollow fiber membrane module 8. Thus the drainage in the emulsion state, for which the oil and water separation is difficult to carry out, is photooxidized for the separation into oil drops from water drops of different diameters, and then they are separated by the screening effect of the pores of a separating membrane and dispensed as they are.
