Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for treating wounds, extremely effective for bacteria and fungi, low in fibroblast.
CONSTITUTION: This aqueous composition for treating wound contains 1-20 wt.% of a gel forming polysaccharide, for example, a cellulose derivative such as carboxymethyl cellulose or hydroxyethyl cellulose or a mixture of carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium alginate and 15-50 wt.% of hexylene glycol. The gel forming polysaccharide and its amount are selected by measuring the viscosity of the composition by using a Brookfield viscometer at 1 rpm rotating speed and a No.6 spindle based on ASTM-D-2196-86 so as to have 105 to 106 cps, preferably 4×105 to 7×106 cps. The composition can be used in the form of a film and the composition in the use comprises 15-80 wt.% of hexylene glycol, 2-60 wt.% of the gel-forming polysaccharide and 0-40 wt.% of water.
