To provide an optical recording medium which can be printed with images by an ink jet system on its surface, and can suppress the amount of warpage produced by a change in external humidity in order to prevent the occurrence of excessive internal and external differences in the recording signal characteristics in the optical recording medium, and to provide a method for making the optical recording medium which can be printed with the images by the ink jet system and satisfies the purposes.
The optical recording medium has ≥2 layers of laminated layers on the front surface of over coating layers on the side opposite to a side irradiated with a laser beam of a disk-shaped optical recording medium having a recording layer on a substrate. The extreme front surface layer of ≥2 layers of the laminated over coating layers is a layer to be ink jet printed for application of the image printing by the ink jet system. The film thickness of the layer to be ink jet printed is 30 the 100 μm.
