PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful for drugs such as cardiac and hypotensive drug in high yield, by optically resolving a mixture of optical isomers of optically active myoinositol derivatives with a specific separating medium.
CONSTITUTION: An optically active myoinositol derivative expressed by formula I [S1WS6 is H (with the proviso that 1W5 of S1WS6 are H), alkyl and aryl, etc.] (e.g., 1,2-dicyclohexylidene-3,6-di-o-benzyl myoinositol) and an antipode thereof are optically resolved with a separating medium containing a polysaccharide (preferably cellulose, amylose, etc., capable of readily yielding a high-purity polysaccharide) or a derivative thereof [cellulose, etc. containing ≥30%, preferably ≤50%, more preferably ≥85% hydrogen atom at hydroxyl or amino group in the above-mentioned polysaccharide substituted with the atomic group expressed by formula II or formula III (R" is 1W3C aliphatic, 3W8C alicyclic or 6W20C aromatic group which may contain a substituted group such as methyl)] as the active ingredient to afford the aimed compound.
