To provide an organic electroluminescent display capable of not only enhancing printing quality but also reducing a leakage current between picture elements, when forming an electroluminescent layer for an ink jet system by selectively applying UV surface treatment to a hole transport layer, and its manufacturing method.
This manufacturing method for the organic electroluminescent display includes a step to form a lower electrode 240 on a substrate 200; a step to deposit an insulating film 230 having an opening 255 to expose a part of the lower electrode 240; a step to form an organic thin film layer on the entire surface of the substrate 200; a step to selectively apply surface treatment to the organic thin film layer; a step to form an electroluminescent layer 270 on a part 261 of the organic thin film layer where the surface treatment has not been applied; and a step to form an upper electrode 280 on the entire surface of the substrate 200.
