Abstract:

To provide a liquid crystal compound containing a naphthyl group.

A liquid crystal compound of the general formula I, R1 A(X)m(B)nR2 (I) A is naphthyl, fluoronaphthyl or bromonaphthyl; B is phenyl, methlphenyl, bromophenyl, fluorophenyl, thiophene, pyrimidine or pyridine; R1 and R2 are independently an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkynyl, thioaylkyl, Br, CN, SCN, NCS, a perfluoroalkyl, a perfluoroalkoxy or hydrogen; X is C≡C, COO or C=C; m is 0 or 1, and when m is 1, n is 0 or 1, and when m is 0, n is 0; and when A is naphthyl, n is 1, and m is 0, B is methylphenyl, bromophenyl, thiophene, phrimidine or pyridine], for example, formula 16.
