PURPOSE: To obtain the titled organic polymer which can retain high activity in spite of its high molecular weight, can be regenerated and is useful as an aldol condensation catalyst, comprising an organic polymer containing trityl perchlorate groups.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer obtained by benzoylating a polystyrene or polymethacrylate (non)crosslinked polymer and reacting the product with phenylmagnesium bromide is reacted with perchloric acid to obtain a (non) crosslinked organic polymer having 1×10-5W2.5eq/g-resin of chemically bound triarylmethyl groups of the formula [wherein Ar1 (un)substituted bivalent aromatic ring, Ar2W3 are each (un)substituted monovalent aromatic ring, X- is an anion of the corresponding proton acid HX having H0 Hammett acidity function ≤-10].
