To provide an ornament to be attached to a nail which can change a pattern appropriately.
The ornament is attached to the nail, has a display section to change the color and the pattern on a surface, and changes the display section with an electromagnetic means or the like to retain the pattern. The ornament changes the surface pattern by the electromagnetic means through the scanning on the surface of the display section from outside or changes it by sending the information of the pattern of the display section as an electric signal to an artificial nail from a writing apparatus comprised of a form recording section to retain the form information for displaying and a writing section which alters the electromagnetic means or the like for a fine part of the display section and acts on the display section to update the display and by controlling the display on the artificial nail.
