Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new palladium compound containing a sulfonated 2,2'-bis (diphenylphosphinomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthalene as a ligand, and useful as a catalyst for carbonylation reactions, hydroxycaroxylation reactions and the like.
CONSTITUTION: The new palladium compound containing a sulfonated 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthalene compound of the formula [Ar is a group of the formula: C6H4SO3M (M is H, ammonium, a monovalent metal or one equivalent of a polyvalent metal); Ph is phenyl; (n) and (m) are each 0, 1 or 2; (x), (y), (u) and (v) are each 0, 1 or 2] as a ligand, and useful as a catalyst for carbonylation reactions, hydrocarboxylation reactions and the like. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of the formula with an organic or inorganic palladium salt, a palladium complex of triphenyl phosphine or the like.
