To provide a paper machine dryer for drying web, and to provide a method for the temperature control of the dryer comprising making a control of the surface temperature of the dryer rolls based on the surface temperature of the dryer rolls and the water content of the web so as to more surely prevent the web from sticking on the dryer surface.
The paper machine dryer includes the plurality of dryer rolls 5 and performs drying the web 7 by pressing it on the dryer rolls 5 while successively wrapping it on the dryer rolls 5. The surface temperature of the dryer rolls 5 is controlled by a control means 12 based on the water content of the web 7 detected or estimated by a relevant means 9 and information (surface temperature) detected by a dryer roll surface temperature detecting means 8.
