The paper sheet conveying device for conveying paper sheets by the electrostatic conveying system comprises a conveying belt for conveying the paper sheets, a charging roller for charging the conveying belt, a high-voltage power source for applying the voltage to the charging roller, and a control means for controlling the high-voltage waveform of the high-voltage power source. The control means charges the paper sheets so that the polarities of the charges at the opposing positions when the n-th paper sheet to be conveyed and the (n+1)-th paper sheet to be conveyed are superposed on each other (where n denotes a natural number).
