To automatically separate a conveyance path which is prone to generate jam in a plurality of branched and merged conveyance paths, and reduce a jam generation number.SOLUTION: A paper conveyance device includes a first conveyance unit, a first detection part, a second conveyance unit, a second detection part, a distribution guide, a conveyance storage part, and a conveyance control part. The conveyance storage part stores a first generation number and a second generation number. The first generation number is a jam generation number of the first conveyance unit. The second generation number is a jam generation number of the second conveyance unit. The conveyance control part determines whether or not to separate each of the conveyance units on the basis of the first generation number and the second generation number corresponding to the type of paper to be used.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
