PURPOSE: To improve operational response and operativity by operating a substrate-conveying mechanism to convey a substrate on a base plate in a predetermined direction, positioning it at a predetermined location and operating an attaching-mechanism to hold a part which is then attached to the substrate at a predetermined location.

CONSTITUTION: A substrate-conveying mechanism 4 horizontally moves a substrate 2 for determining the part-attaching location in the X direction. A part-attaching mechanism 23 has a chuck which is horizontally moved to determine the part-attaching location in the Y direction. Only the two above-mentioned positionings are required, allowing good operational response of the part-attaching mechanism 23, drastic reduction of driving force and improved operativity.
