Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern recognition device in which the pattern recognition function having a high discrimination performance is realized while conducting discrimination among the categories having highly similar patterns.
SOLUTION: In the device, a clustering is conducted for the entire feature space. Then, a transformation is conducted for every cluster against an input feature vector by the discrimination analysis within the luster. The device is constituted of a feature extracting section 1, which receives the object information to be pattern-recognized and extracts input feature parameters, an output probability computing section 2, which computes the post-provability of the category at the time of the observation of the input feature parameters and the probability of the appearance of the input feature parameters for every category, a time normalizing section 3, which calculates an optimum state column an a likelihood for every model using the model corresponding to the category computed by the section 2 and an optimum candidate selecting section 4, which selects a maximum model of the likelihood among the likelihood of the model used by the section 3 and outputs the output symbol corresponding to the model.
