Abstract:
To improve the service life of a rail used for a heavy-load railroad by controlling the components of a rail steel, further controlling an Li oxide (LiO2), so as to improve the wear resistance and ductility of a pearlite texture, and further controlling its hardness.
The pearlite-based rail having excellent wear resistance and ductility is characterized in that, in a steel rail comprising, by mass, 0.65 to 1.20% C, 0.05 to 2.00% Si, 0.05 to 2.00% Mn and 0.0005 to 0.10% Li, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, at least a part of the head surface part of the steel rail has a pearlite texture.
