Abstract:
To provide a peripheral image display device configured to display a composite image showing the surroundings of a vehicle as seen from a virtual viewpoint placed inside the vehicle, which is capable of allowing a user to recognize which direction of a peripheral image is displayed.SOLUTION: An image generation ECU 1 generates a composite image that is similar to an image obtained when looking at a road surface near front wheels viewed from a driver's point of view through a bottom of a vehicle body on the basis of a user operation to the car. The image generation ECU 1 is configured so as to, when displaying the composite image, display an animation that the viewpoint moves from a bird's-eye view located above and near a rear side of the vehicle to the driver's viewpoint. In the process of moving the viewpoint, interior members such as the instrument panel are displayed in an opaque or translucent manner. After the viewpoint movement is completed, an animation that gradually increases transparency of the image of the interior member while fixing the viewpoint is displayed. The image generation ECU 1 is configured so as to display the composite image as a final screen of the series of animations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
