To provide a photochromic fluorescent polymer, and to provide a method for producing the same.
This photochromic fluorescent polymer has such a structure that a diarylethene and an arylene vinylene precursor are combined with each other, and has a weight average molecular weight of 500-1,000,000. The polymer is much improved in photochromic characteristics and fluorescent characteristics when compared with conventional photochromic fluorescent materials and, moreover, is easily formed into a thin film because of having excellent solubility in an organic solvent, so that the photochromic properties and fluorescent properties are retained even in a thin film state. Thus, the photochromic fluorescent polymer is applicable to an optical recoding medium, an optical switch, an information processing device including a nondestructive optical recording medium, and an optically functional material. The method for producing the polymer is provided in the specification.
