PURPOSE: To obtain proper exposure by driving the optical system of a photodetecting means according to an electronic zoom and performing zooming operation, and controlling the ratio of the photometry range of a photodetection part to a photographic range into a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: The photometry instrument is provided with the photodetecting means which photodetects light transmitted through a photographic lens by the photodetection part 7 through the optical system 6 for the photodetection part and perform photometry and a driving means which drives the optical system 6 for the photodetection part for the zooming. Then the optical system 6 for the photodetection part of the photodetecting means is driven by the driving means according to the electronic zoom to perform the zooming operation and the ratio of the photometry range of the photodetection part 7 to the photographic range is controlled into the specific range. Consequently, proper photometry is performed and proper exposure is obtained.
