To provide a pile fabric having concavities and convexities on a pile surface and having an outward appearance and a touch full of variety, and to provide a method for producing the same.

This method for producing the pile fabric comprises weaving the fabric by using two or more kinds of pile yarn 2, 3 of which the heat shrinkage percentages are different from each other, and then conducting heat treatment, so that the pile surface having the concavities and convexities is realized by forming low pile faces 4 (concave parts) in areas in which the pile yarn 2 having a high heat shrinkage percentage appears and forming relatively high pile faces 5 (convex parts) in areas in which the pile yarn 3 having a low heat shrinkage percentage appears.
